Guy Ashworth

Managing Director

Guy Ashworth has worked in the communications business for the past 22 years and in corporate communications for the past decade.

Since leaving journalism in the early 1990s, Guy has worked for major London and Birmingham-based consultancies in public relations and corporate communications. This has covered both the private and public sectors for a wide range of clients from food technology to retailing and many points in between. He has also been responsible for the production of award-winning magazines.

Particular areas of specialist knowledge include construction,engineering, urban regeneration and development, professional services and security systems.

He set up HCK Communications in 2005.

Guy is a former journalist whose experience covers national and regional titles. He began his working life on evening papers in South Wales and has worked on both the reporting and production sides of the business in locations as diverse as Coventry, Exeter and Fleet Street. He has written about everything from murder trials to plans for nuclear power stations, crime to regeneration, plus the inevitable local government beat.

Guy is a keen walker and cyclist. He has climbed Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and clocked up thousands of miles on his bike.

Bob Wells


Having begun as a daily newspaper journalist in the Midlands and Fleet Street, Bob moved into corporate publishing when he joined Charles Barker where he became Editorial Director. He held similar positions at Edelmans, Key Communications and Citigate Communications before becoming MD of Surrey House Corporate Publishing until last year.

His work has won many awards from organisations such as Communicators in Business (including its gold medal for best magazine for NatWest Bank), PR Week magazine, The Society of Investment Analysts and Aldus, the publishing software company, in the latter two cases for the design and production of annual reports. He has also been a judge in various publishing competitions.

Bob has launched and produced magazines for some of the UK’s biggest and best-known companies, including Bechtel, Glaxo, Guinness, London Stock Exchange, National Farmers’ Union, Royal Mail, Tesco and Top Rank. He and Guy worked together at both Key Communications and at Surrey House.

Bob is an Elvis fanatic.

Amanda Beament


Amanda is responsible for the administration, statutory obligations and the smooth running of HCK Communications. She has excellent organisational skills, which she employs daily.

She is also a qualified social worker and is currently involved in a developmental role within social work training. She is working closely with a number of bodies in the higher education, statutory and voluntary sectors to meet Department of Health targets to increase significantly the number of placement days to trainee social workers.

Amanda loves music and the arts, so Glastonbury Festival and Edinburgh Festival are regular appointments in her calendar.
